Hey! I’m Bella, an ux/ui designer in sunny California, focused on creating inclusive digital experiences that bridge cultural gaps and connect diverse perspectives.

LA Parks
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks sought to enhance its digital experience to promote safer, touchless interactions. With only 10% of registrations occurring online before the redesign, we were tasked with reimagining the system to increase online engagement.
Collaborating closely with our branding team, we launched a new brand identity alongside the redesigned website and mobile app. We streamlined complex, non-integrated systems into a seamless, cross-platform experience accessible via web, mobile, and kiosks. The revamped LA Parks App, launched in partnership with the LA28 Olympics and Mayor’s Office, now allows users to easily discover and register for programs, manage family profiles, and receive real-time updates. Since the launch, online registrations have surged to 80%, significantly relieving the strain on in-person staff.
HFPA - Golden Globes
The HFPA sought a complete redesign of the Golden Globes website to better engage its global audience. Working closely with the HFPA’s digital content team, we crafted a data-driven, mobile-first strategy that aligns with their identity as a philanthropic and publishing enterprise.
The new design, featuring a sleek black aesthetic, was built with a mobile-first approach, reflecting the fact that over 60% of users access the site via mobile devices. We reimagined the content hierarchy and design to ensure a modern, intuitive experience across all platforms.
Key enhancements include an improved search function with filters and trending content, interactive components for live events, and a new Awards Database that transforms the site into a comprehensive, easily searchable hub of Golden Globes history. The redesign also introduced profile pages with detailed information on movies, TV series, and celebrities, enriching the user experience.
By integrating these elements with updated brand guidelines, the website now pays homage to the Golden Globes’ timeless elegance, creating a cinematic feel that resonates with their iconic gold.
*Please note that this redesign of the Golden Globes site has since been replaced following the dissolution of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) in June 2023. The site is now under the management of new owners.
italiaDesign2022
In summer 2022, I collaborated with 11 peers from the School of Interactive Arts & Technology at Simon Fraser University to create the ItaliaDesign2022 website.
This digital exhibition highlights the work of 10 distinguished Italian designers, offering an in-depth look into their processes, practices, and legacies. The site explores various design disciplines, including architecture, industrial design, lighting, and user experience. Through interviews, case studies, and visuals, it showcases Italy’s rich design heritage and the significant impact of these professionals on the industry. The website serves as both an educational resource and a source of inspiration for design enthusiasts.
Empowering High School Students to #DiscoverDesign Through Visual
Visual is a tablet app crafted to introduce high school students (ages 13+) to the world of design, helping them see how design shapes their everyday lives and explore potential career paths in the field. The app uses an adaptive algorithm to curate content that aligns with each student’s interests, making the learning journey more engaging. By incorporating location-based data, Visual also shows students that impactful design is closer than they might expect—whether around their city or within their own homes.
With features designed to make learning hands-on and interactive, Visual allows students to upload photos to explore design elements like fonts, color codes, and more, using AI analysis. The Explore section offers curated design news, while Discover introduces students to different fields within design. Vision helps them create personal vision boards, and Learn provides foundational knowledge of color theory and typography based on their own images. Visual’s mission is to inspire students to #DiscoverDesign, making the world of design feel accessible and relevant to their lives.
Watts Rising - Tree Dedication
In response to environmental inequity in Los Angeles, where lower-income areas like Watts have significantly less tree canopy coverage, we partnered with the Watts Rising Collaborative to create the Tree Dedication Platform. This digital tool connects Watts residents to local tree planting initiatives, allowing them to dedicate trees in honor of loved ones, fostering both environmental change and community legacy.
Our user-centered design process, driven by empathy and respect, led to the development of a platform focused on small actions leading to big change. The site includes a live map that tracks real-time tree planting efforts, providing essential data for the Housing Authority to allocate resources and combat extreme heat effectively.
A profile feature allows residents to share stories and celebrate their loved ones through tree dedications, turning every planted tree into a personal symbol within the community.
